Leading Link works to bridge the gap between educational institutions, young people and the business world by providing real life opportunities through a diverse range of activities, helping to maximise the potential of young people across North East England.
Our main focus is to be the driving force of youth leadership and opportunity. We have an array of 'real' opportunities for young people to develop confidence, leadership and teamwork skills whilst gaining nationally accredited qualifications that attribute towards personal statements and job applications.
Leading Link also understand that the national curriculum is one of the most important aspects of a person's development and as such, we offer services which help to enhance key subject areas and help to engage young people with their school work in new and exciting ways.
Some of our most successful projects are listed below:
Children’s University™ is a national (and international) programme which aims to encourage quality extra-curricular learning and experience outside of the classroom, and it is being managed in Northumberland by Leading Link.
It involves a 'Passport to Learning' system and end of year graduation/celebration, helping to inspire confidence, raise aspirations and reward involvement in different activities for young people.
Now in its eighth year, the Youth Ambassadors™ are a group of dedicated young volunteers who work tirelessly to help support Leading Link's work, playing a vital role in both the planning and delivery of projects.
Leading Link understand that attainment in school is an integral part of a young person's development and as such, we offer a variety of bespoke projects which help to enhance the learning that takes place in the classroom and other areas of school life.
Projects range from transition between schools and small group targetted work, to developing role models and creating a youth voice to help to engage young people in their school work in new and exciting ways.
As part of the introduction of our #maximiseyourpotential campaign, Leading Link are currently piloting a new programme designed at linking young people across the region with the world of business and enterprise.
From industry visits, specialist talks and enterprise competitions, to creating bespoke work experience programmes (working with The Key through their Mr Benn project), the aim of the programme is to offer young people a 'real' experience of the working world.
The Big Event is our annual family fun day which takes place at Attlee Park, Bedlington in June. Since its inception four years ago, the celebration has been attended by in excess of 6000 people - a number that is set to rise once again this year.
Including fun fair rides, a sizzling summer BBQ, an enterprise market of local businesses, a live entertainment stage and more, the event is the pinnacle of our year and allows our young people to celebrate all of their achievements with the local community.
